UGA history Professor Stephen Berry awarded NEH grant

Stephen Berry, Gregory Professor of the Civil War Era in the department of history, has been awarded a highly competitive National Endowment for the Humanities Public Scholars grant for his book project The Black Prince: The Emancipated Life of Prince Rivers of South Carolina.

2023 Global Georgia events series continues through April 26

The Willson Center’s annual Global Georgia series of public events began in February and continues throughout the spring. Its calendar includes authors and filmmakers; digital humanities innovators and environmental humanists; academics and poets; an indie rock veteran and a soprano diva; and the directors of both the Modern Language Association and the National Gallery of Art.

UGA held its first Humanities Festival in March 2023

The University of Georgia presents its first Humanities Festival, a series of public events showcasing the richness and diversity of research and practice in the humanities at UGA and throughout our extended community. The festival is organized by the UGA Humanities Council.
