NHC Responsible AI grant funds partnership projects with Minority Serving Institutions, community colleges

As an institutional sponsor of the National Humanities Center UGA has the opportunity to apply for a Responsible AI grant. This grant requires partnership between a sponsor institution and a Minority Serving Institution and/or a community college.

Faculty interested in this opportunity should submit a two-page proposal to the Willson Center at wcha@uga.edu by 12 p.m. Friday, January 19.  The proposal should

  • Identify the Minority Serving Institution and/or community college you are partnering with
  • Detail your collective expertise in AI, specifically methodologies that address ethics and responsibility as it relates to AI
  • Explain the relevance of this course on both campuses
  • Detail the access to AI education on both campuses
  • Note the ways in which students at both institutions will be allowed to benefit from technologies, programs, and faculty at each institution
  • Explain how collaboration between the two institutions will be facilitated; and
  • Explain how this project experience will benefit the faculty members listed on this proposal.

For interested applicants, the NHC will host a virtual information session for this project on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 3 p.m. ET, using this Zoom link.

UGA was successful in the previous round of these grants and we will be happy to share advice and mentorship with potential applicants in the preparation of their documents. Please contact Willson Center associate director Winnie Smith at wsmith78@uga.edu with any questions.
