Description

The Interdisciplinary Modernisms Workshop research cluster (affectionately known as the UGA ModSquad) facilitates and formalizes a collaborative and interdisciplinary exchange among faculty and students interested in the global and expanded study of modernism and its legacies. We host and support modernism-related events across campus. Our ModSquad workshop welcomes visiting scholars, UGA faculty members, and advanced graduate students to present work-in-progress for roundtable discussion and critical feedback. The workshop setting offers a collegial forum for graduate students in the dissertation-writing process to develop supportive ties with their fellow students, faculty mentors, and guest faculty participants. On a larger scale, the cluster aims to encourage collaborative initiatives among faculty from the workshop’s various disciplinary and institutional affiliates, with an eye toward grant development for cross-disciplinary research and the strategic growth of an international profile for Modernism studies at the University of Georgia.

The workshop holds regular seminar-style meetings around research and work-in-progress, followed by discussion, questions and feedback. Participants and presenters are welcome from any and all disciplines and areas within the Humanities and Arts, as well as from other perspectives such as the history of Science, Law, or the Social Sciences.
