The Willson Center/Peabody Awards Television Roundtable meets to discuss topics of television, media and related cultural dynamics.

This event takes place on the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. A screening of the 1988 documentary “JFK: A Time Remembered” (part of the Peabody Awards Collection) will be followed by a roundtable discussion with Dr. Janice Hume (Journalism), Dr. Trey Hood (Political Science), graduate student Ashton Ellett (History) and Professor Donald Wilkes (Law).

The program, part of the Peabody Decades series, will pay tribute to President Kennedy and his legacy and examine the impact of his assassination then and now.

Mr. Ellett’s research focuses on the political, diplomatic, and social history of post-World War II and Cold War American society. Professor Hood’s research interests include Southern Politics and Gun Control Policies. Professor Hume studies the relationship between American journalism and collective memory; she is the author of Journalism and a Culture of Grief. Professor Wilkes has written over 30 articles about the Kennedy assassination.
