Applications now open for 2022-23 Grants and Fellowships Mentorship and Support program

In Spring 2022 the Willson Center launched a Grants and Fellowships Mentorship and Support program for a cohort of 12 faculty. This program is in partnership with the Franklin College, the Office of Research, and the Office of the Provost.

We are now accepting applications for the second cohort of eight faculty for academic year 2022-2023. Faculty who are admitted to the program will receive $1,000 into their research support accounts. The deadline to apply has been extended. It is now Friday, Oct. 7 at 5 p.m.

This program is designed to

  • Create a supportive environment for critique and development of grant and fellowship proposals
  • Provide the tailored supports for individual faculty to be successful in applying for grants and fellowships

The selected cohort will

  • Meet together on a regular basis at the group’s discretion to share drafts, experiences, and build a supportive network of scholars engaged in applying for grants and fellowships
  • Learn about promising funding sources for their research and receive advice on writing persuasive proposals from invited mentors
  • Present working drafts of their proposals to each other
  • Be expected to have a plan for completed proposals for the coming funding cycle

Applicants can see a list of recent faculty success in grants and fellowships here.

Applicants can also access a list of possible grants and fellowships here and in the Willson Center’s regular communications.

To apply

Please submit a CV and 1-2 page letter of application to Winnie Smith at the Willson Center by 5 p.m. Oct. 7. This letter should describe the project for which you would like to seek sponsored support and your target grant/s or fellowship/s. If you have not decided, which kind of support you aspire to, and your experience, if any, with grant writing (for this or other projects).

Eligibility

All tenured and tenure-eligible faculty in humanities, arts, and social science fields in Arts and Sciences are eligible to apply to participate in this workshop. “Research” is defined broadly to include creative projects in the arts and research on pedagogical topics. Faculty with little or no grant-writing experience, as well as more experienced grant writers, are encouraged to apply.
