Willson Center and Office of Global Engagement offer fellowships to Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich
The University of Georgia has a strategic research partnership with Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich (LMU), which is one of Europe’s leading institutions.
The Willson Center for Humanities and Arts and the Office of Global Engagement are keen to build on this partnership and are offering up to two visiting fellowships to visit LMU during LMU’s 2024-25 winter semester (October 14, 2024 – February 7, 2025). The fellowships are open to arts and humanities-engaged faculty and will be for a period of two weeks.
Fellowship proposals should have a focus in the environmental humanities and/or the digital humanities. Upon selection each fellow will be connected with the relevant community of scholars at LMU, either in the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, or in the digital humanities through partnerships built from the Digital Humanities Lab in the UGA Libraries (DigiLab).
It is required that successful fellows will collaborate with LMU colleagues in their subject area during their visit, including giving a public lecture, presentation or workshop while there. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Willson Center for information about potential partnerships before they submit their applications.
To apply please write a letter of no more than three pages outlining your interest in the program, your ideas for collaboration, your interest in the environmental and/or digital humanities, and the specific work you would undertake during the fellowship term. Applicants should confirm that they have the agreement of their unit head to accept this fellowship if it is awarded. Please also suggest ways in which your fellowship would continue to build links with LMU after you return.
Each fellowship will cover a return flight, accommodation and subsistence, not to exceed a total of $6000.
The closing date for applications is Monday, September 9 at 5 p.m. Please email applications to wcha@uga.edu. Notification will be given by Friday, September 20.
