Professor William Kretzschmar Awarded Honorary Doctorate
William Kretzschmar, Harry and Jane Willson Professor in the Humanities, will be awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Oulu in Finland. The honor will be conferred in May 2013. A general description of the conferment ceremony is available here, and a list of the conferees here.
Professor Kretzschmar is the editor of the Linguistic Atlas Project, a national center for survey research on American English. He chaired a Willson Center town hall meeting on external grants in November, and will serve as faculty host for Edgar W. Schneider, Chair of English Linguistics at the University of Regensburg, Germany, when Schneider visits UGA as a Willson Center Distinguished Lecturer February 27, 2013.
