Dual Honors for Professor Ed Pavlić

Ed PavlicThe latest volume of poetry by UGA Professor of English Ed PavlićVisiting Hours at the Color Line, will be published by Milkweed Editions after he was declared a winner of the 2012 National Poetry Series. Professor Pavlić’s work was supported by a 2012 research grant from the Willson Center, his second.

Meanwhile, Professor Pavlić is spending the fall semester in Cambridge, Mass. on a residential fellowship from the W.E.B. DuBois Institute at Harvard University. There, he is constructing the complex and heretofore unpublished autobiographical narrative told in 115 letters the great American author James Baldwin wrote to his brother David between 1953 and 1986.  Pavlić was invited to write No Time to Rest: Reading James Baldwin’s Letters to His Brother David by Gloria Karefa-Smart, James Baldwin’s sister and literary executor. No Baldwin biographer or scholar has previously been granted access to his letters.

Congratulations to Professor Pavlić on these marvelous achievments. We’ll be on the alert for details on the publication of both volumes.
