Willson Center Welcomes New Associate Academic Directors

The Willson Center has added two new senior administrators: Antje Ascheid, Associate Academic Director for Arts and Public Programs, and Stephen Berry, Associate Academic Director for External Grants.

“I’m delighted to join the Willson Center as Associate Academic Director,” said Ascheid, an Associate Professor in the UGA Department of Theatre and Film Studies. “I look forward to the opportunity to build networks between the various arts communities at UGA and in the Athens community at large, to further public engagement with the arts, and to nurture national and international collaboration. There are so many exciting things happening in the arts here in Athens, both on campus and off. I’m simply thrilled to become a part of the Willson Center’s creation of a productive synergy in this arena.”

Berry is the Amanda and Greg Gregory Chair in Civil War Era Studies in the UGA Department of History. “The humanities and arts are the heart and soul of a university curriculum,” he said, “and I am delighted to be joining the Willson Center in its effort to promote them on campus and in the wider community. I will be working closely with faculty and Center staff to make the strongest case possible to granting agencies that the humanities and arts at the University of Georgia deserve and need their support.”
