University of Georgia students are currently on the leading edge of some of the most prestigious and competitive international awards for undergraduates.

The Willson Center’s annual Global Georgia series of public events begins February 1 and continues throughout the spring.

The second annual UGA Humanities Festival will feature lectures, conversations, performances, social gatherings, and bookend keynote events with Oxford Professor of Poetry A. E. Stallings and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Hua Hsu.

The Willson Center invites nominations from faculty and students for the Delta Visiting Chair, which hosts outstanding artists, writers, musicians, socially engaged thinkers, and cultural innovators. Famed soprano Angela Brown (pictured) was the last Delta Visiting Chair in 2022-23.

Nicholas Allen, Baldwin Professor in Humanities, joined The Andersonville Irish Project and dignitaries including Irish Government Minister Darragh O’Brien for the ceremony at Andersonville National Historic Site on October 19, 2023.

The 2023 Spotlight on the Arts festival spanned the month of November with a rich calendar of events celebrating the literary, visual and performing arts.

In addition to his public talk in the UGA Chapel, Whitehead will visit with student groups at UGA and at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens.

Humanities and arts faculty and students at UGA continued to showcase the world-class quality of their research, teaching, and public engagement during the 2022-23 academic year, once again collecting highly competitive national and international honors and awards across a variety of fields.

UGA has announced its 2023 honors and awards for faculty and graduate students and once again, the university’s humanities and arts community is well represented among those recognized for their outstanding achievements in research and teaching.

UGA has launched a new round of funding for the Global Research Collaboration Grant (GRCG) program to encourage the development of sustainable international research and service activities. Proposals are due Friday, May 19, 2023.

The residency is part of Culture and Community at the Penn Center National Historic Landmark District, a partnership between the Willson Center and St. Helena, South Carolina’s Penn Center.

The Willson Center and the Office of Global Engagement are offering up to two visiting fellowships for arts and humanities-engaged faculty to visit Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich for two weeks during LMU’s 2023-24 winter semester.
